YEAR 11 LIFESKILLS LESSONS

By Mrs E Dawson26th April 2018

As we move forward into exam territory , individual students may wish to complete particular tasks within faculty areas rather than in their Lifeskills classroom. This is okay provided that all students have gone to their Lifeskills room to REGISTER and then have been given permission from their teacher and from the teacher that they are going to, to do so. Students MAY NOT just take themselves off to the LRC and if one student has permission it doesn’t mean that all their mates also have permission!

This is a safeguarding issue – we must know where you are and you will be challenged if you do not follow procedure.

KS3 Writing Competition for years 7, 8 and 9

By Miss A Chapman11th April 2018

On April 2nd 1805, Hans Christian Anderson was born. He went on to write some of the best known and loved fairy tales; stories that are still told today. He is arguably most famous for The Little Mermaid.

To celebrate his life and work the English department is holding a creative writing competition.

Write a fairy tale no longer than two sides of A4.

You could take an existing fairy tale and twist it around, bring it into the 21st century, or create brand new fairy tale all your own.

Entries should be submitted to Ms Norton in the Brookvale Library.

Deadline for entries is Friday 4th May.

The competition will be judged by the English, Media and Literacy department and a prize linked to the anniversary will be awarded to the winner.

Good luck!
