Our fantastic students and staff raised an amazing total of ÂŁ1,260 for Sports Relief 2018!
Well done!
This afternoon the Year 9 boys rugby team were crowned Leicestershire U14 County Plate Champions with a 50 points to 12 victory over De Lisle Catholic School at Loughborough University. Captain Sam Jacques led the way with 6 tries, with Tom Allen and Tristan Wildgoose also touching down. Tom Allen completed the scoring with 5 conversions!
A fantastic achievement for everyone involved!
On Tuesday 20th March five of our students took part in the 10 for 10 Book Challenge Quiz held in our Brookvale Library and hosted by the Creative Learning Services. Mrs Norton, Brookvaleâs Librarian was really proud of our studentsâ performance and said that they did fantastically well against much older teams!
Our Year 8 and Year 11 football teams experienced County Cup success as they completed a famous double for the campus!
The Year 8 football team retained their County Cup title with a 2-0 victory over St Paul’s in a closely fought encounter. Goals from Frankie Richardson and a Kyle McAdam penalty late on ensured the County Cup remained on the campus for another year.
Our Year 11 footballers were also involved in a tight affair against Belvoir High School. An Olly Mullings strike, mid-way through the first half saw the boys home but not after some resolute defending ensured the score remained 1-0, as the team were rewarded for their hard work throughout this year with some silverware.
Well done to all involved, a brilliant achievement!
Evie Dunn in Year 12, pictured above, has just won the
Bardi Young Musician of the year competition!
It’s a prestigious solo competition which means she will be playing
a concerto (big solo) with the Bardi Symphony Orchestra in July.Â
International Womenâs Day is held every year to celebrate womenâs achievements and campaign for gender equality.
The English faculty is also running a competition in two categories: key stage 3 and key stage 4/5 with a prize of 2 ÂŁ10 Amazon vouchers. Students in no more than two sides of A4 need to write a speech explaining why their choice is the most inspirational woman. They can choose a famous woman, or a member of their family â it doesnât matter who she is â use all of their persuasive skills convince us that she deserves that title. Deadline for entries is Friday 16th March 3.10pm. Winners will be announced on the website and in the May newsletter.

On Monday 5th March our School Direct Trainees participated in a Professional Studies Day focusing on Marking and Feedback. As a School Direct partnership, we are unique in Leicestershire delivering all of the Professional Study Days in our partnership schools. Trainees work with staff to develop their skills they will need as newly qualified teachers from September 2018!
All trainees will observe lessons in their subject faculties and come together afterwards to discuss teaching techniques.
Learning and developing skills in this way adds variety and depth to the topics and also allows the trainees to share experiences with senior and experience teachers.
If you or any of your family or friends are interested in finding out more about training to teach, check the campus website at www.brookvalegroby.com or email Virginia Toon at vtoon@brookvalegroby.com
We are delighted to announce that Brookvale Groby Learning Campus have recently been re-designated with The Equalities Award for the next 3 years. We first received the award in 2014. Re-designation is by no means a formality and any institution that wishes to maintain their accreditation has to supply significant evidence to demonstrate that they have a real commitment to achieving and maintaining equality for everyone.
All aspects of the equality agenda are explored and so the process of working towards the award is as useful for us in checking and developing our provision as much as for the prestige of being awarded it.
As a school that tries every day to live out our âValuing Everyoneâ motto we are proud to have been externally recognised in this way.

WELL DONE GIRLS!
Well done to all those students that have competed for the campus in cross-country this year. Saturday 3rd February was the final race of the school season, with Ratcliffe College hosting the School Championships. Notable individual performances came from Katie M. Parker (2nd Junior Girls), Lucas Spence
(3rd Junior Boys), Rachel Nealon (2nd Intermediate Girls), Hollie Gamble (4th Intermediate Girls) and Roman Watson-Quilter (4th Intermediate Boys).
The Intermediate Boys team of Roman, Lucca Watson-Quilter and Ollie Barlow, were crowned County Champions to go alongside the County Relay Champions title from earlier in the season.
As a result of these performances, Katie, Lucas, Rachel, Hollie and Roman have been selected
for the English Schools team in their respective age groups. Lucca has been selected as a reserve.
WELL DONE TO ALL OUR RUNNERS!
Katie, Rachel and Hollie have also recently raced in the Midlands XC Counties Championships, in which they won team gold with one other of their club team mates. Pictured above with their winners medals. WELL DONE GIRLS!
