The LeicestershireLive Carer of the Year awards was held on the 30th January, rewarding, recognising and celebrating unsung private and professional carers who help better the lives of others.
Year 9 student Madison Dunn, was nominated by her mum Deborah, who spoke about how Madison had been through a lot with her father’s illness and friends’ situations but she still continued with her school work and would help her brothers out. Deborah mentioned that Madison’s older brothers were terminally ill and her younger brother has dyslexia. Madison helps her younger brother with his homework and helps her mum around the house, as well as supporting her friends.
It was an afternoon event that started at 12pm and finished at 4pm. The host was Kate Solomons and the guest speaker was Councillor Christine Radford. There were over 200 guests in attendance and 13 different awards were presented. The afternoon included a 3 course meal and sparkling drinks on arrival.
