Zoe Nakas has been described by her teachers as not only kind and driven, but resilient and determined. Her ‘can-do’ attitude and perseverance is admired by all as she puts everything into producing constantly high quality work. Zoe is passionate about science and hopes to pursue a career in the subject, something which she can easily achieve with her natural independence and hardworking, hands-on approach. Zoe is always ready to take on whatever challenge she is given, helping those around her with the skills she is constantly building.
BGLC Katie Parker – Beating All Odds 2021 FINALIST
An inspiration to many, Katie Parker was diagnosed with long Covid after battling the virus earlier in the year. She fought with great resilience and despite her difficulties exercising and concentrating due to the debilitating symptoms, she works incredibly hard to achieve her goals and excel. Her amazing sporting career and GCSE results show her true potential and she is determined to maintain those high standards. Praised for her maturity throughout her challenges, there is no doubt that Katie can achieve her dream to attend the University of Cambridge.
BGLC Chloe Smith – NQT of the Year 2021 FINALIST
Chloe Smith has made a fantastic start to her teaching career with the enormous contributions she has made to the history teaching team at Brookvale Groby. She has made an important start to increasing representation and diversity in the school, planning lessons and assemblies for Black History Month. Chloe encourages critical thinking in her lessons and is a source of inspiration to not only students but other newly qualified teachers. She is always on hand to help out and support other members of staff, making her a valued member of the team.
BGLC Archie Swinfield – Science & Maths Awards 2021 FINALIST
At only 11 years old, Archie is off to a flying start and excelling at maths and science. His can-do attitude and want to problem solve means he loves to engage and participate with the subjects, refusing to back down when a solution is there to be found. His school has even referred him to a maths masterclass for talented students to shine even brighter. In his spare time, Archie enjoys undertaking logical tasks like woodwork and lego building, even completing tasks for children older than him with ease.
