Student success in the new GCSEs. Well done to the Class of 2019.

By Mrs C Anderson22nd August 2019

I would like to express our warmest congratulations to our GCSE students who have received their results today. We are pleased to say our students have done extremely well.

These results reflect a great deal of hard work by students and the staff who work with them. As a campus we have challenged our Year 11 students to work even harder and are thrilled to see that the hard work and determination has paid off.

Please click here to enjoy the celebration with our brilliant students.

Thank you to parents and carers for their unwavering support during the busy revision and exam period.  Your family support is absolutely central to the students doing so well; these are your grades too!

My thanks and appreciation goes out to our staff who make it possible for the students to achieve these grades from the moment they start on campus in Year 7.

For any students who are staying to continue their studies at Post 16 please remember that the details for signing on have been sent out to you prior to the summer holiday. If you are unsure about what you are doing please contact the Post 16 team; post16@brookvalegroby.com  Staff will be on campus from Tuesday 27 August and Post 16 sign on day is Wednesday 28 August , 9.30am – 12noon. Year 12 studies will commence on Friday 30 August at 8.40am and student will have their photos taken during period 3.

Congratulations to the Post 16 Class of 2019

By Mrs C Anderson15th August 2019

A Level students at the Brookvale Groby Learning Campus have celebrated some excellent results this morning.  During Year 12 and 13 students have studied a mixture of rigorous A Levels and Level 3 Vocational courses.  The outcomes from this advanced level of study reflect the extraordinary effort and hard work of our students during the last two years.

Many of our students have made excellent progress over the last two years since taking their GCSEs.  There has been a significant increase in the number of students achieving the highest grades at A Level with a particular rise in students gaining grades A* – B. There were some exceptional individual outcomes in this year’s set of results with a high number of students achieving A* grades across the board.

Click here to see some of our students receiving their results this morning.

A huge congratulation goes out to our students and we wish them well in the next chapter of their lives.  Many of them are off to university with some going straight into employment and further training.  In fact some of our hard working young people have taken time off work from their new careers to join us this morning for result collection and celebration with their peers and staff.

I would like to thank the parents for their endless support throughout their child’s education.  Thank you also to our hard working and dedicated team of staff who make the achievements of our young people possible during a period of such dramatic change.

Well done and good luck to our Year 13 students from the Class of 2019.

‘All England Dance Finals’ for the Jackson sisters!

By Mrs C Anderson18th June 2019

Sisters; Alicia Jackson (Year 11) and Layla Jackson (Year 7), have trained at DuPont dance stage school in Leicester for the past 3 years.  They study the ISTD syllabus for tap, modern, ballet, contemporary, acro, lyrical dance and musical theatre.  They train on average between 12-15 hours a week usually during the evenings, after school and on Saturdays.  The ‘All England Dance Finals’ is the accumulation of a 2 year cycle, during which dancers from all over the country compete in various qualifying festivals, with the aim of reaching the regional semi-finals, and then from there, hopefully getting through to the National finals in July/ August.

Reaching and qualifying for the regional semi-finals is a massive achievement in itself!  Both girls have just competed, which took place in Cheltenham during May half term.  Layla (Year 7) managed to qualify for 4 dances;  2 trios and 2 groups, whilst Alicia (Year 11) managed to qualify for 14 dances; 5 solos, 5 duets/trios and 4 groups to the ‘All England Dance Finals’ which will take place in High Wycombe from 26.7.19 to 3.8.19.

This is an outstanding achievement, especially given that Alicia was also revising and sitting her GCSEs!  They could not have done it without the superb training and dedication they receive from the teachers at the DuPont dance stage school, and also the support of BGLC, as many of the festivals take place during school term time and mean time off school.  It is a hard, demanding but extremely rewarding hobby, which they love to pursue.

WELL DONE Alicia & Layla!
Good luck in the ‘All England Dance Finals’

Keanna Kowal – Swimming success!

By Mrs C Anderson6th June 2019

Year 9 student Keanna Kowal has achieved a qualifying time in 100 Fly,
which enables her to compete in the British Summer Championships in Glasgow in July!

She will be one of only 24 swimmers in the UK that will be competing in that event in the 15 year age group.

She’s also qualified for the English Summer Champs in 50 fly taking place in Sheffield at the end of July – she won a silver medal in 100 fly at these championships last year.

Keanna also recently won a silver and 3 bronze medals, in the East Midlands Regional Champs in May!

The hard work and how many hours training swimmers put in each week, before and after school on most days, often goes unrecognised, so well done Keanna.

Keanna swims at ‘City of Leicester’ which is the performance pathway club for Leicestershire. @SwimLeic

 WELL DONE KEANNA!
Good luck in Glasgow in the British Summer Championships!
