Year 12 student Yasmine Sheffield is a competitive swimmer and competes at National level with her best result so far being 5th placed in Great Britain at 200 butterfly just before Covid hit. She trains 9 times a week and competes many weekends, she gives her absolute everything to the sport she clearly loves.

On Friday 11th March Yasmine is competing at the High Wycombe level 1 open meet this weekend and her first race is at 5pm on Friday. The times she achieves at this meet will go towards her qualification for British and English Nationals in the summer!

Yasmine’s club Leicester Sharks made history this weekend becoming the first ever Leicestershire based club to qualify and compete in The National Arena Swimming League Cup Final in Cardiff, a competition that is now in its 52nd year. Yasmine was the female team captain and helped her team finish a very proud 9th place against the very best swimmers in the Country, many swimmers were Olympians so you can imagine the standard of competition. There was a write up about it in last week’s Leicester Mercury too.

GOOD LUCK Yasmine!
